Easter is approaching and a traditional time to plant potatoes but what is the weather up to ? Ideally it's best to plant in warmer conditions than we seem to be experiencing now the heat wave has passed, but the weather at this time of year is so very variable. Plant out potatoes but keep an eye for frosts which will damage the early top growth. If frost is threatened, cover the new growth with either cloches, fleece or earth up to the new growth so that it is not exposed.
Potatoes are easy to grow and there is just something nice about digging them up and eating so fresh. For all about growing potatoes following this link and for advice on which veg to grow in containers follow this link
Potatoes do well in containers provided they do not dry out.
