New Easy To Prune Summer Flowering Clematis

Complicated pruning requirements deter many gardeners from growing Clematis. I have several pages about how to prune Clematis and 4 videos, but wouldn't it be easier if we could grow a summer flowering clematis which didn't require so much attention?
Well, we can now. Two Clematis breeders have produced, new to the market in 2024, Clematis Paulie, which is an easy to prune summer flowering clematis. Like all Clematis, it benefits from being grown in full sun. It has a compact form growing to around 30-60cms (depending on conditions and growing environment) and is suitable for tubs, window boxes and hanging baskets.
The only pruning requirement in the early spring is to cut back to around 7-10 cms. Just that. No working out which group it is, no cutting back to a framework, or pair of buds just a simple prune.

Here is a clematis which is a green wheelbarrow plant, very unusual. Video below with more information..
This short video explains in more detail how to care for Clematis Paulie and has some more images of this new Clematis variety.
